Both tools help you put case events in order and link them to the files behind them. Casefleet lets your team share lists of events and save reports for Word or Excel. CaseMap+ AI includes deposition review and a timeline tool called TimeMap. Start with the work your team needs to do. Casefleet reports, CaseMap+ AI.

A good timeline does more than show dates on a chart. You should be able to open an event and find the page or transcript line that supports it.

Below, we use one small injury case to show what to check in each tool.

Start with five events

A list of events in date order is often called a chronology. A timeline shows those events on a chart. Both need clear dates and links to the records.

Here is a fictional crash file with four documents and five events:

Where to look What the record says Date of the event
Police report, page 2 The crash took place at 8:10 a.m. May 6, 2026
Emergency room note, page 4 The patient reported neck pain. May 6, 2026
Physical therapy form, page 1 The patient came in for a visit. June 2, 2026
The same form, page 2 The patient said they missed an appointment in May. May 2026; day unknown
Driver’s July 9 deposition, page 18, lines 4–12 The driver said neck pain began the day after the crash. May 7, 2026, based on that statement

The last row has two dates. The driver spoke on July 9 about something they say happened on May 7. The date on a document is not always the date of the event.

Example · Keep both dates

Date of the document
July 9 — the date of the deposition
Date of the event
May 7 — when the driver says the pain began
Where to check
Page 18, lines 4–12 of the deposition
What does not match
The May 6 emergency room note already mentions neck pain
A sample record to use in a demo, not a screen from either tool.

Keep both versions of when the pain began. Link each one to its record. Do not combine them into one answer that hides the difference.

The sample also has no other treatment records between May 6 and June 2. That does not tell us whether the patient had care elsewhere.

Compare the main features

Both products link events to records. The table below shows features described in their help pages. It does not list every feature or mean only one tool can do a task.

In these tools, a fact is a record of an event or statement. Giving it that label does not settle whether it is true. Your team still checks the source.

Task Casefleet CaseMap+ AI
Add an event from a document Highlight text and create a fact. Casefleet adds a link to that spot in the file. Fact guide Select text in the document viewer to add a fact with the source text. Document guide
Compare parts of a case Saved views can appear in separate lanes on a timeline. September update Choose which dated facts to put on a TimeMap chart. TimeMap guide
Review a deposition Highlight transcript text to add a fact with page and line numbers. Transcript tools Review video with the transcript and edit AI summaries. Summary topics can become facts. Product page
Save a report or chart Save a chronology to Word or a fact list to Excel. Reports can include a ZIP file of the linked documents. Reports Save a TimeMap chart as an SVG or PNG image. Ask about other report formats you need. TimeMap guide

Try it in Casefleet

Open the fact and citation guide. Start with the emergency room note. Highlight the words about neck pain and create a fact. Check that its link returns you to that page.

If your plan includes AI-proposed facts, try the same note with AI. Read each proposed fact beside the original text. Edit, accept or dismiss it before it enters your list.

Next, make two saved views, or filtered lists: one for medical records and one for the driver’s testimony. Show them in timeline lanes. Can you see the two dates given for the start of neck pain?

Casefleet’s September update says these views were rolling out. Check that they are in the account you will use.

For the missed appointment, keep the date as May 2026, day unknown. Casefleet supports partial dates and labels such as “Around,” “Before” and “After.” Date guide.

Try it in CaseMap+

Open the fact guide and use the same four files.

Add the two statements about neck pain. Keep the description of each event separate from the text in its source. Group both under the same issue, or case topic, so your team can find them together. Create the issue before you try to link facts to it.

Then use the TimeMap guide to make a chart from the dated facts. Open each fact and check its source.

CaseMap+ lets you leave parts of a date unknown. TimeMap needs dated facts. Ask the person giving the demo to show what happens to the month-only appointment date on the chart and in the saved image. Do not enter May 1 just to make it fit.

Check limits and costs

A trial or low-cost plan may not include what you need.

  • Casefleet: the free trial allows 10 documents per case. Starter allows 20 and does not include the listed full-text search or AI tools. The Advanced AI plan lists no document-count limit, but upload, storage and AI-use charges can still affect the bill. Plans and limits.
  • CaseMap+ AI: ask for the document limits and included tools in writing. The product page we reviewed does not give the same kind of plan table. Confirm that the demo and quote cover the edition you plan to buy. Product page.

Also try having two people edit the same fact. CaseMap+’s help page warns that the last save keeps that person’s changes. Check how your team will avoid losing an edit.

Make the final check

Before choosing, use the small file above to finish these steps:

  1. Add the five events. Keep the document date, event date and page or line number clear.
  2. Check any AI work. Compare each suggested fact with the original words. Note what you have to fix.
  3. Keep the unknown date. Check the month-only event in the list, chart and saved report.
  4. Ask a coworker to review. Can they find both statements about neck pain and open the right pages?
  5. Save the output you need. Try the Word file, spreadsheet or image your team plans to use. Check whether any source links work for a person without an account.
  6. Get the full price. Include users, files, storage, AI use, training and moving old case data.

Use the tool that gives your team a clear list or chart they can check and share. A good demo should leave you with that result, not just a tour of features.
